Bio

Born and educated in England, I received my Teaching Certificate (Art) from East Sussex College of Higher Education. I am an Australian Citizen and a permanent resident of Perth, Australia.

My work explores several recurring themes including the fragility of the environment, my own vulnerability and the passing of time. Mathematical concepts and numerical sequences inspire me to depict them in an abstract and painterly manner. I draw fine lines and shapes to create pattern and abstract forms. Obsessive, repetitive patterning is a frequent feature of my work.

I and 3 others formed MELD as a mechanism to stretch our creativity and provide mutual support as we pursue our individual art goals. Hidden Revealed Transformed, held in 2014 at the Showcase Gallery of North Metro TAFE, was the inaugural group exhibition. In addition to taking part in the exhibition, I compiled the catalogue for Hidden Revealed Transformed, and created the website for the group.

My work can be seen on the website www.lizarnold.com.au
